Set Idea
This is an initial idea for the stage design of the Grimes fairytale 'The Hedgehog and The Hear'. This set is designed specifically for the Olivier Theatre, one of three stages at the Royal National Theatre. I have chosen this space because of the revolving drum which consists of three interchanging semicircular platforms and a revolving outer ring. I wanted to use the drum for the scene set in the Hedgehog's home because I did not want there to be a brake in action and the drum gives the imitation that his house is underground because the set will emerge from the ground.

Hi Alex
ReplyDeleteThis sounds intriguing - looking forward to seeing ways in which the underground world can be dealt with, and what it might also say abut the character of the Hedgehog - perhaps considering the Hedgehog's character will lead to ideas about which genres to develop this scene in?
Hi Alex
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be more reflective work going on here: don't forget that this blog is you reflective log, an assessed component - ideas, research and designs all need to be included and discussed herein. If you're not posting, it's the online equivalent of not turning up for a tutorial - especially today, which is the date given by which time you really needed to have made sure that there was work going on to comment on. I'll be looking in on blogs regularly still, so it's by no means too late - and if you need a tutorial just let me know.
